THE GOOD NEWS OF CHRISTMAS

Jesus wasn’t born in a hospital. He was born in a stable surrounded by animals. It was dark and not very clean. Why would God, the creator of the entire universe, send His Son to be born in such humble circumstances? Jesus’ disciple John tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him (and that includes you), should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

You see, we all do things that we shouldn’t do, and we don’t do things we should. That’s called sin, and sin separates us from God. Unlike us, Jesus lived a sinless life. Yet, Jesus willingly died on the cross taking the punishment that we deserve for our sin. When Jesus rose from the dead and emerged from the grave, He became a bridge to restore our broken relationship to God. But to cross that bridge, you must turn from your sins and believe Jesus is the Son of God, trusting in Him fully and completely.

That is what Christmas is all about. Jesus coming to earth so that we can be forgiven of our sins and live forever with God. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to God the Father except through Him.

Would you like to make the decision to turn from sin and trust in Jesus today? It is a decision of our will but one that we can make through the words of a prayer. You can pray – speak words to God – like this: “Father in heaven, I confess that I am a sinner, but I believe that Jesus died and rose to save me. Would you come into my life and forgive me of my sins? I want to follow you all my days.”
